What to Expect in your First Session
Starting something new can feel both exciting and uncertain. My intention is to make your first session feel safe, clear, and supportive so you can relax into the experience. Whether you are joining me online or in person, the process is very much the same.
Arriving and Beginning
When you arrive, either in my studio or online, we begin by taking a few minutes to check in. You do not need to prepare anything or know what to say. This time is simply about where you are at, what has been going on for you, and what you are hoping to receive support with.
What Happens in the Session
You will be lying down comfortably, fully clothed. I use a combination of somatic practices, breath, and energy-based work to support your body and nervous system to unwind. Every person experiences this in their own way. For some, it may feel like subtle shifts in breath or body. For others, it may be more physical, such as spontaneous movements, sensations, visions, deep knowings or emotional release.
There is no right or wrong way for your body to respond. Each session is unique because it meets you exactly where you are.
Online Sessions
If you are joining online, the experience is equally effective. You will set yourself up in a quiet, comfortable space where you can lie down without distractions. I guide you through the same process, holding space for your body to soften and release. Many clients find online sessions deeply powerful because they are in the comfort of their own home.
Why People Come to This Work
People often seek this work when they feel like they have tried “all the things” and are still searching for relief or answers. Some come because talk therapy alone hasn’t given them the shift they need. Others feel let down by Western medicine when tests come back “fine” but they know something deeper is going on in their body.
I see people experiencing anxiety, grief, stress, and overwhelm. Some are moving through big life transitions, while others simply feel disconnected from themselves and want to come back to a sense of wholeness. This work offers another way - through the body.
What People Notice
The changes clients experience are wide-ranging. Some are subtle and build over time, others are felt straight away. Common things people notice include:
Feeling calmer and more grounded
Improved sleep and rest
Relief from tension, aches, or stress held in the body
Greater emotional release and resilience
More capacity to handle daily challenges
Feeling less anxious and more present
Increased clarity and focus
A stronger connection with themselves and others
After Your Session
The body and nervous system continue to integrate long after a session finishes. You may notice feelings of lightness, calm, or deeper presence. Sometimes emotions surface gently in the following days, which is simply your body completing cycles of stress and finding new balance. With each session, the nervous system learns safety and capacity in new ways.
Where to Start
If you are new to this work, you might wonder whether to begin with a one-on-one session or a group session. Both are powerful in different ways. A private session allows for personalised attention and space to explore your body’s unique patterns. Group sessions can also be a great entry point if you feel comfortable, and many people find the groups make it easier to attend more regularly.
How Often to Come
Some people notice shifts after their very first session, while others find the work deepens gradually over time. Because this process is about unwinding long-held patterns, one session alone is rarely enough. I recommend beginning with three to four sessions close together, which gives your nervous system time to build trust and capacity. From there, the space between sessions often becomes more intuitive. Some people return weekly or fortnightly for a period, while others come monthly as a way of ongoing support.
Here to guide you.
